Van is the pleasant town lying next to the Van lake. However Van itself maybe a nice little place to stroll around for two or three days getting there may be difficult due to Kurdisch and Turkisch tensions in the area.
Van Lake This beautiful and clean lake is just a short while out of town. You can either walk there or take a dolmus. This lake has water which is so basic it feels almost soapy to your hands. Try it and enjoy the lake.
As a bonus there is a little island in the lake which has a church on it. You can get there by boat and enjoy the surroundings.
Van Castle Outside the city of Van there you can find the castle. Although of the original castle there's not a lot left you can climb up the walls and enjoy a nice view on the Lake and the city. Here sometimes people gather to talk or you can as we did, bring over your pencil and book and do some drawing and writing.
